Event Details

2 Rivers Remix Society presents Decolonise 2.0 on July 31 commemorating the 110th anniversary of the Declaration of Interior Tribes when the Nlaka’pamux, Secwepemc, and Syilx Nations unified their struggle to resist the “B.C.” Government theft of their unceded land.

Decolonise 2.0 features Secwepemc/Nlaka’pamux artists The Melawmen Collective streaming their musical medicine from the stunning canyon location where the Declaration was signed on July 16, 1910; an interview with Nlaka’pamux elder Darryl Minnabarriet whose grandfather signed the declaration in 1910. The evening will finish with a mind-spinning set from 2-Spirit DJ O Show who lives at the confluence of the Indigenous, LGBTQ2S+ and Black Lives Matters resistance struggles.

In the Summer of COVID-19 Indigenous artists are reverberating and remixing the Indigenous Nations’ 1910 declaration, “WE WILL HELP EACH OTHER TO BE GREAT AND GOOD”.

Decolonise 2.0 is a preview event for Virtual 2 Rivers Remix Feast of Contemporary Indigenous Music and Culture that will be streaming Sept 4•5•6 2020!

Organizer

2 Rivers Remix Society

2 Rivers Remix Society is the instigator and organiser of The 2 Rivers Remix (2RMX), an annual 3-day Feast of contemporary Indigenous Music and Culture. Since its incorporation in 2018 2RMX was hosted by the Nlaka’pamux Nation in Tl’kemtsin/Lytton, BC, until the devastating fire that incinerated most of our host community in 2021. In 2022, 2 Rivers Remix Society evolved towards a decentralised, Indigenised feast model called the "Movable Feast", that brings a series of contemporary Indigenous music and culture events direct to multiple small indigenous communities across BC.
